Anton's triumphant return?

West Ham's prodigal son and Rio's lesser brother, Anton, who has had mixed reviews from pundits and fans alike since establishing himself in the first team several years ago. He has since made an £8m switch to Sunderland last summer.

Claret & Blue Army can reveal that West Ham are in fact making a cut price swoop for the young central defender. Zola has offered £2m to the newly appointed Steve Bruce for young Ferdinand's services. I for one would welcome Little Miss Ferdinand back, let it be a kick up the backside for him and maybe he's realised where his true home lies. Ferdinand made 23 appearances for Sunderland last term, scoring 0 goals.

In other news, Eidur Gudjohnson and Zola have pretty much confirmed the link with the Striker. The Daily Star reported that the Icelandic striker is keen for a Premier League come back, and that The Hammers would be ideal.free counters

  1. James, it's not going to happen Sunderland can't afford to throw that kind of money away it's just ridiculous to think they can take 6 million out of their wallet and a year or less later thrown that up into the air in Green Street market.

About Eidur Gudjohnsen what would the club be doing associating itself with another has-been? Haven't we had our fingers burnt enough over the last three seasons do that? And to take another ageing player makes us again look like a club with no ambition, mid-table at best or trying to stave off relegation again. We have a "project" how good is that if we take another player that is here for the money and well past his best?

  2. Thanks for the comment Mark!

Maybe, they are accepting a low offer for Anton because they can't afford not to, If you look a it as £2m profit this season rather than a £6m loss over the past two seasons.

I'm unsure as to Sunderland's financial status, but I cannot see it being much better than ours!
